From the perspective of trade balance, China's mold trade surplus has been expanding year by year.

Comparison of segmented categories

The export value of segmented categories of mold products is shown in Table 3. The change curve of the proportion of annual export value of each category is shown in Figure 2. The top three categories in terms of total export value within 10 years are "injection molding or compression molding for other plastics or rubber", "forging or stamping tools", and "other molds for plastics or rubber". Among them, "other plastic or rubber injection molds or compression molds" account for more than 50% of the export share, "forging or stamping tools" account for 15% to 20%, and "other plastic or rubber molds" account for 5% to 10%. Among all categories, the fastest growing export value is "die-casting molds for metals and hard alloys", with an annual export value of $87 million in 2015 increasing to $257 million in 2024, a growth rate of 195.4%.

The import value of segmented categories of mold products is shown in Table 4. The change curve of the proportion of annual import value of each category is shown in Figure 3. The top three categories in terms of total import value within 10 years are "injection molding or compression molding for other plastics or rubber", "forging or stamping tools", and "other molds for plastics or rubber". Among them, the import value of "other plastic or rubber injection molds or compression molds" and "forging or stamping tools" fluctuates around 40%, accounting for a total of 80%. "Other plastic or rubber molds" account for 4% to 8%. The trend of the import proportion of "metal and hard alloy die-casting molds" is worth paying attention to. Within 10 years, the annual import value of this category has sharply decreased from 133 million US dollars to 16 million US dollars, a decrease of 88%.
