Precautions during the processing and manufacturing stage of expanded PVC

Fine processing is the key to ensuring the realization of mold design intent.

Processing technology process:

Reasonable process flow must be followed: rough machining → stress relief annealing → semi precision machining → heat treatment → precision machining → fitter polishing.

Stress relief annealing is crucial after rough machining, as it can eliminate the internal stress generated by rough machining and prevent deformation during subsequent heat treatment or use.

Mold cavity processing:

CNC precision machining: The cavity is usually milled with high precision using CNC milling machines or machining centers. For complex intersecting line surfaces, 3D programming must be used.

Electric discharge machining (EDM): For detailed parts that are difficult to reach with deep cavities, narrow gaps, or CNC tools, EDM can be used, but it must be carefully polished afterwards to remove the "white layer" (deteriorated layer) generated by EDM. This layer has high hardness, brittle performance, and is prone to becoming a crack source.

Mechanic polishing: This is the final step in achieving high smoothness. Polishing should be carried out along the direction of product demolding to avoid horizontal scratches. Polishing workers need to be experienced to ensure smooth surface transitions without changing critical dimensions.

Guidance and positioning system:

The fit between the guide column and guide sleeve must be precise, with even gaps to ensure accurate alignment of the upper and lower molds during mold closing, preventing misalignment that may result in uneven product wall thickness or significant burrs.

The positioning pin, locking mechanism, etc. must also be processed accurately to ensure the stability and reliability of the mold under high pressure.
